    Keve inspires and empowers while discussing entrepreneurial skills and weaving in personal tales from the world of Broadway, recording studios, and tours. This workshop guides musicians to discover how they can be the best advocates for their own careers.

    Led by IWCMF’s own, Alex Davis, the artistic collective that centers its mission on black and brown classical musicians performs a concert timed with the 250th anniversary of the USA, encouraging dialogue about music’s power to share our history to move forward into this country’s next era.

    Join Imani Winds’ clarinetist Mark Dover, trumpeter Brandon Ridenour, and pianist Ahmed Alom for an evening of music exploring their collective influences; from Copland to Jelly Roll Morton to Cuba, exploring both standard repertoire, original compositions and arrangements, weaving seamlessly between through-composed music and improvisation.

    What does it mean to compose music in a moment where boundaries between genres, disciplines, technologies, and audiences are rapidly dissolving? This panel brings together a range of voices working across orchestral, experimental, and independent spaces to examine the tensions shaping the field today: tradition and reinvention, human creativity and generative systems, institutional pathways and self-defined careers. The conversation will probe how composers are navigating authorship, sustainability, and connection in real time, where is the music going, who is it for, and what does it ask of us now?

    WORKSHOP: Daniel Anastasio: Stop Explaining and Start Connecting - How to communicate classical music through feeling, story and sound.

    Pianist Daniel Anastasio guides general audiences to a new way of classical music expression. Find out how personal values, presence, storytelling, public speaking, and deep preparation all play important roles. 

    WORKSHOP: Mark Dover - Improvisation for Classical Musicians

    As classical musicians, the hardest aspect to approaching improvisation is taking that first step off the page when you just don’t know what to play. This workshop seeks to undo that mental block we all initially have through simple group exercises, touching on concepts like modes, pentatonics and groove.

    What does it take to build meaningful work within a major institution over time? Drawing on her residency with The Cleveland Orchestra, Allison Loggins-Hull explores the artistic, relational, and strategic dimensions beyond premieres; writing for specific musicians, building trust, and sustaining a creative presence across seasons. Ultimately, he shows how long-term collaboration can reshape both the music and the systems that support it.

    In a series of short lecture-demonstrations, ECP fellows will introduce their work and artistic identity to peers and mentors. Each presentation will begin with an artist statement, offering insight into your creative perspective. This is an opportunity to practice public speaking, build confidence in articulating your ideas, and connect more deeply as a community of composers.
