IWCMF is an intense summer program devoted to musical excellence, career development and the JOY of chamber music. Mentored by the Grammy winning Imani Winds, the 11 day festival offers a full curriculum of coachings, masterclasses, entrepreneurial workshops, community engagement activities, performances and the specialized Emerging Composers Program all in the heart of New York City's Lincoln Center.

Overview

Through coachings, masterclasses, performances, mentorship and workshops, the festival’s curriculum focuses on:

  • Chamber Music/Solo Musicianship

  • Communication/Entrepreneurship/Career Development

  • Community engagement and educational outreach training

  • Work with Imani Winds and their catalogue

  • HAVE FUN IN NEW YORK CITY!


Fellowship Curriculum

  • Daily rehearsals and intense training within an assigned ensemble

  • Coachings from members of Imani Winds

  • Participation in solo and chamber music masterclasses with Imani Winds and esteemed guest artists

  • Performance in culmination concerts

  • Participation in entrepreneurial and career development workshops and seminars


Emerging Composers Program (ECP) Curriculum

  • Rehearsals with paired fellowship ensembles

  • Coachings/reading/mentorship sessions with Imani Winds and IWCMF Composer-in-Residence

  • Promotion and exposure on the festival’s media outlets

  • Performance and recording of work at the “Visionaries” Composer Showcase Concert

  • Composer specific panel discussions, workshops and masterclasses


ECP COMBO Curriculum

  • Combination of the two above programs
